Advisors are vital to the club’s success. They guide, mentor, train and support members and officers to carry out club activities and to grow as service leaders. Most clubs have a faculty advisor and a Kiwanis advisor. Learn more about advisors’ responsibilities in the K–Kids Advisor Guide. and explore advisor education and resources below.
The faculty advisor is the primary adult responsible for guiding members and officers. They are appointed by the school, organization or host site. The faculty advisor is the liaison between the club and school/site administration and with the Kiwanis advisor.
The Kiwanis advisor is appointed by the sponsoring Kiwanis club as its main volunteer that supports the K-Kids club. They can help with specific tasks, like connecting the K-Kids with the Kiwanis club and community organizations. Kiwanis advisors are required to follow Youth Protection Guidelines, including clearing a background check and completing youth protection training.
