Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF
By teaming up with UNICEF, K-Kids is helping to raise money for the Kiwanis Eliminate Project.
With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. Neonatal tetanus kills one baby every nine minutes—nearly 60,000 newborn children every year. A significant number of women also die due to maternal tetanus. The effects of the disease are excruciating—tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch.
To eliminate MNT from the Earth, 129 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take $110 million—and the dedicated work of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family.
In early fall, K-Kids clubs that participated in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF the previous year will receive a personalized kit that contains its Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF box, stickers, posters, and more. Just follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Create a fundraiser.
Step 2: Collect donations in a Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF box.
Step 3: Submit your club's donations with the UNICEF Donation Form.
Step 4: Celebrate!
If your K-Kids club did not participate last year and would like to, the club can order a free Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF kit from Kiwanis International by calling 1-800-KIWANIS, ext. 411.
Participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is a great way to earn a banner patch for your club. Club's that raise $250 or more qualify for a banner patch.
